Denis, Shubert

Shubert Denis, born in Port-au-Prince, pursued primary and secondary education at “Lycee A. Petion” before apprenticing with renowned Haitian painter Ernst Louizor. Despite considering himself self-taught, his art, reminiscent of American regionalists, has been exhibited globally. He illustrated “Downtown Brooklyn” in 1999 and contributed to “Haitians d’Aujourd’hui.” Denis also owns The Port-O-Prince Star Restaurant, blending his passion for painting with hospitality since 1989.
