Hinton, Tim

Born in Chicago, IL, artist Tim Hinton’s childhood was mainly in Orlando, Florida. His artistic journey began early, self-taught and drawing from youth. After high school, he served in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam, earning two Purple Hearts. After discharge, he worked as an illustrator at the Naval Ship Engineering Center. He designed the official poster for signing the Martin Luther King Holiday Legislation in 1983, with his works gracing national monuments in Washington DC. During the presidential campaign, Hinton created three portraits of President Barack Obama and designed two posters featuring them, one of which is showcased in the book “Hope, a Collection of Obama Posters and Prints.”
