Porter, Henry C.

Henry C. Porter (1921-2009), born in Bishopville, SC, primarily resided in New York and Georgia. Initially attending Morgan State University on a football scholarship, he was drafted into the army and pursued painting at the Academy of Arts in Newark and graphic design at the School of Visual Arts later in NYC. After establishing a successful freelance graphic studio in NYC, he transitioned to full-time fine art in Kennesaw, GA in 1980. His work, encompassing polished figurative paintings and dynamic abstracts on Plexiglas, garnered acclaim through exhibitions at esteemed institutions like the Brooklyn Museum, Harriet Tubman Museum, Kennesaw State University, and Morris Brown College.
